Top 5 Things I Love About WonderCon

We are 1 day away from the madness that is WonderCon so here are the top 5 things that I'm looking forward to the most.

5. TomboyTeez Sightings! There is nothing cooler than seeing one of our Teez on a con attendee. It makes me happier than a nerd at a convention.

4. Costumes. Gods bless Cosplayers! There is no better place to people watch than in the booth during WonderCon. Some costumes are super accurate, some are incredibly revealing and other are head scratchers. Never a dull moment.

3. Other Cool Vendors! There is never a lack of cool vendors to check out. You can shop for lightsabers, vintage toys and of course comics! I always have to limit myself to only buying one thing And I always cheat.

2. Special Guest Sightings! You never know who's going to stroll past the booth. Stan Lee and Jane Espenson have been a few favorites.

1. Nerds! I love spending time with my people. And the conversations that I find myself in are so much fun. Nothing like a serious nerd conversation.

Come on down to Anaheim and geek out with us! And when you visit our booth and proclaim "I love TomboyTeez" you'll get $5 off your purchase! See you there!

Not Guilty Be Reason of Zombification? Law and Forensic Psychiatry After The Zombie Apocalypse
Friday March 29, 2013 6:30pm - 8:00pm
During a “zombie apocalypse,” humans play by a new set of rules -- or no rules at all. Zombies kill humans, humans hunt zombies, and humans murder other humans -- with no legal repercussions. But suppose the zombie apocalypse ended after eradication of the zombies or the discovery of a cure that rejoined the dead with the living. When society's laws are restored, what would happen if humans, zombies, and former zombies alike stood trial for their actions? Would any of them be found guilty, or would the circumstances of the apocalypse excuse crimes like theft, breaking and entering, misuse of a corpse, murder, and cannibalism? What legal defenses might apply? Join the forensic psychiatrists of Broadcast Thought, H. Eric Bender, M.D.Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., and Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D., and the lawyers of Law and the Multiverse, James Daily, J.D. and Ryan Davidson, J.D.(The Law of Superheroes) as they examine the legal issues faced by a post-zombie-apocalyptic world. In a mock trial, the lawyers will be the prosecution and defense, the doctors will be the expert witnesses, and you will be the jury. Will the walking dead be found guilty, or will they walk free?
LGBTQ Subtext in Comixs, Sci-Fi and Fantasy

Saturday March 30, 2013 4:30pm - 5:30pm

LGBTQ subtext has almost always existed in comics, films and TV shows-from Dr. Wertham's writings on Batman and Robin to audiences' musings on Star Wars, Xena, Buffy, Doctor Who and the current Once Upon A Time TV show. "Wink-wink, nudge-nudge" asides, glances and dialogue still get fans talking and slash fictioners "slashing." Subtext is a legitimate literary and artistic device. But now with the greater prominence and acceptance of LGBTQ characters in media, subtext has even more opportunity to become "maintext." Will subtext ever come out of the closet? Will the prince ever get the prince-or the princess her princess? How often is subtext in the mind of the beholder? Join Prism Comics and Marc Andreyko (Black Lightning and Blue Devil, Manhunter), Brad Bell(Husbands), Jane Espenson (Buffy, Once Upon A Time, Husbands), Wendy Pini (Elfquest, Masque of the Red Death), and moderator Jody Wheeler (DoorQ, Bent-Con), as they explore how creators and audiences balance queer subtext.

TomboyTeez Across The Pond

I just got back from Europe and I had a blast. I brought a slew of TomboyTeez with me to wear around town but it was not exactly t-shirt weather. It averaged around 35F degrees in both London and Paris. That's cold in my book but my girlfriend, the Canadian, insisted that is was just "chilly". You can call it whatever you want but I was bundled up the whole time. So you'll have to trust me when I say I'm wearing some great Teez. We caught up with some of our British friends in London (and loyal TomboyTeez-ers) and I even hand delivered a shirt to one of our Free Shirt Friday's winners. For the record, this shipping method is very expensive and not always available.

We had a great time in London then we headed across the Channel to Paris. It's a beautiful city full of history, great art and delicious baked goods. And we met some very cool people. We ran into a woman from Santa Monica who's been living in Paris for 30 years. Overall it was a fun trip and a great holiday before our event season ramps up. I can't wait to go back. In warmer weather. Thanks Europe, see you next time.
